Historic Edinburgh bowling club set to be turned into family home

Plans for a former Edinburgh bowling club to be transformed into a family home are set to be granted next week.

Following a previous site visit and review, Edinburgh Council's planning committee have recommended that plans to convert the historic Edinburgh Tramways Bowling Club, Rosslyn Crescent, into a family home are given the green light.

The decision and conditions will be put to councillors during a meeting on Wednesday, March 15.

In March 2022, an application was validated to turn the abandoned bowling ground into a family residence and garden.

As well as the green, a clubhouse comprising of a licensed bar accommodating 40 covers, as well as a kitchen, office and changing room facilities, were included in the sale.

In a design and access statement provided on behalf of the applicant last year, it states that the home would consist of three bedrooms and the bowling green would be used as garden space.

It adds: "This Planning Application is for a proposed conversion of the Bowling Club and Bowling Green to a residential dwelling and garden, with minor alterations to the existing clubhouse to create a 3 bedroom house, with the bowling green becoming garden ground. There is no extension to the clubhouse or new development within the garden area proposed."
