An iconic Art Deco hotel situated off the coast of Devon has launched its own bespoke gin in partnership with one of UK’s most sustainable distilleries. Burgh Island Hotel's Burgh Island Gin is infused with 17 different botanicals including Rosa Rugosa and Gorse stemmed from Burgh Island.
Burgh Island has a history of hosting noteworthy guests such as Winston Churchill, The Beatles, Agatha Christie, and some of today’s biggest musicians and film stars.
Receiving most of its energy from wind farms, North Point Distillery is committed to creating premium and sustainable spirits with minimum impact on the local environment. Burgh Island Gin is contained in bottles made from recycled glass, with even the corks and labels coming from environmentally conscious partners with carbon-free certifications.
Lilly Krupa, Head of Events and Brand, said: “Burgh Island has a well-known history of serving some of the world's most famous travellers from Agatha Christie to John Lennon. With the launch of Burgh Island Gin, we can now mix some of our favourite cocktails with a spirit that encapsulates the magic and mystery of Burgh Island, which entrance the hotel’s guests. We are also proud to partner with North Point Distillery to ensure that the gin is produced using the best sustainability practices in the spirits industry. We look forward to welcoming guests to taste the gin in our very own Palm Court Bar, and to providing people with the authentic taste of Burgh from the comfort of their own homes.”
Alex MacDonald, Co-Founder of North Point Distillery, added: “We crossed paths with the Burgh Island team by chance, and it's proven to be an ideal partnership. Like North Point Distillery, Burgh Island has been an innovator in the hospitality industry, pushing for further adoption of more sustainable practices including the use of renewable energy sources. Speaking with Lilly and Giles about what Burgh means to them has helped us create a drink that we hope captures the spirit and charm of the island, so if guests buy a bottle to take home it will be easier for them to conjure up from their memories the mystery and magic of having stayed in such an iconic hotel.”
