Historic 250-year-old Edinburgh Rose Street pub reopens after huge makeover

A historic Edinburgh pub has reopened to punters after being closed while getting a suave new refurb for the first time in 50 years.

The Kenilworth officially reopened on the May 19 following an extensive two-week make over, giving the historic pub a warm and inviting new feel.

The pub was last given a careful restoration by Alloa Brewery in 1966 and is one of only four pubs in Edinburgh with an island bar.

The well-loved boozer, popular with tourists and locals, is located at 152-154 Rose Street and sopen from noon till 10pm everyday.

Stunning pictures show the clean new interior of the traditional pub while all the charming features that give it a historic feel have been retained.

The timelessly classic pub has been given a revamp while keeping its traditional look with improvements including new décor.

As a Cask and Gin house specialist near to Edinburgh Castle, the Kenilworth is the perfect setting for a bite to eat or refreshment after a day of shopping or sight seeing.

Guests can enjoy everything you’d expect to find on a traditional pub menu, including an array of delicious sharers, through to classic main dishes and succulent burgers, there’s a selection of food that’s perfectly suited to all appetites.

Along with the food menu, guests will also be greeted with an extensive drinks menu, boasting a wide selection of cask, craft beers and world lagers, something for every taste.

Speaking about the refurbishment, general manager at the Kenilworth, Fiona Stuart, said: “It’s been fantastic seeing the pub come together over the last couple of weeks.

"Both myself and the team are incredibly excited to welcome new and familiar guests over the coming days and we hope they love the transformation.”

"Following the extensive refurbishment and significant investment made at the pub, 5 new jobs have been created for the local area, with the team now ready to pour pints and serve high-quality, delicious food to guests.
