A historic pub dating back to the 17th century is set to reopen next month in Bristol city centre under new owners. The King’s Head in Victoria Street closed in March 2020 due to the pandemic and hasn’t returned since.
It’s the only pub in Bristol considered of National Importance in the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)’s Heritage Listed Interiors, known for its unusual Tram Car seating interior and a back bar dating from around 1865 (which may be the oldest surviving in the country). It has recently been taken over by Good Chemistry Brewing, which runs the award-winning pub the Good Measure in Redland.
Owners Kelly Sidgwick and Bob Cary, both born in Bristol, started one of the first Bristol-based breweries back in 2015. Bob first started as a home brewer and has worked for local breweries like Wiper and True before setting up Good Chemistry Brewing. Kelly previously made elderflower drinks and utilises her business skills from her university studies.
