Hiring demand declines 1% in January 2022 due to Omicron, retail and travel jobs worst hit

NEW DELHI: Hiring demand declined 1% in January on a month-on-month basis owing to the cautious approach of Indian employers due to Omicron conditions, according to the Monster Employment Index (MEI), a comprehensive monthly job analysis report by Monster India.

Given the economic impact of the third wave, 9 out of 13 industries saw a fall in the intent to hire
