Hindutva outfits urge Bar association not to assist Mudhol woman

Hindutva organisations in Mudhol in Bagalkot district have urged members of the Mudhol Bar Association not to provide legal assistance to Kuthma Sheikh, 25, who was arrested for her social media posts earlier this week.

M.S. Badiger and others signed a memorandum submitted to the Bar association, in which the activists said that the woman had committed sedition and did not deserve support of the legal fraternity.

Ms. Sheikh, a resident of Mudhol, was arrested for her social media post for wishing ‘peace, and harmony to all countries’, following a complaint by Arun Kumar Bhajantri, a Sangh Parivar leader on March 24. However, she was released on bail the same day.
