SHIMLA: Over 150 jhuggis were gutted in a major fire that broke out at Bathu in Himachal Pradesh's Una district on Thursday.
These jhuggis, located near the common facility centre, belonged to the migrant labourers working in the area.
After receiving information regarding the incident, the fire brigade reached the spot and the fire was brought under control.
The people were horrified to see the rising flames and smoke.
However, there were no reports of any loss of life as the labourers and their children were saved timely, it is estimated that the migrants have lost properties worth lakhs.
While dousing the flames, a fire brigade employee got injured partially and was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Deputy commissioner Raghav Sharma also reached the spot and took stock of the relief and rescue work. Immediate relief was being provided to those affected by the fire.
The official said that most of the migrant labourers were working in the industries of the area, so the district administration with the help of industrial units, local gram panchayat and social organizations was making arrangements for the accommodation and food of the labourers on priority basis.
Police registered a case and started investigation into the matter.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
