MANALI: The land acquisition process with an aim to start the work on a 4.25-km-long tunnel to bypass 16,580-foot-high Shinku pass (between Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh) by July has been speeded up. The land has also been identified at Shinkula top to build a helipad.
Recently, officials from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), administration and Geoconsult-RITES JV carried out a joint inspection of Shinku-la. The team inspected the area to identify land for muck dumping, camps, raw material storage sites and the location of the portals. BRO is also consulting with the officials of forest department, revenue, and public works department. The land acquisition process is expected to complete in July.
