Himachal Pradesh Congress chief Pratibha Singh meets Mallikarjun Kharge; demands responsibilities for party workers in govt

SHIMLA: Amidst the speculations of Cabinet expansion and appointments in the boards and corporations, Himachal Pradesh Congress president Pratibha Singh on Thursday met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi.

While briefing him about the damages suffered by the state during monsoon season, she also discussed organisational matters with him. During the meeting, she informed Kharge that if the hardworking and dedicated party workers are given some responsibilities in the government soon then it will infuse new blood among the party workers. She said that workers are the backbone of any party, hence there is a need to encourage them.

Pratibha Singh was accompanied by her son Vikramaditya Singh who is the PWD minister in the chief minister Skhvinder Singh Sukhu led government in Himachal Pradesh.

According to sources, right now there are allegations that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is accommodating only his loyalists in the government. So, under such cirumstances, the leaders loyal to former chief minister late Virbhadra Singh and state president Pratibha Singh are feeling sidelined.

As many posts of chairman and vice-chairman in the different boards and corporations are going to be filled in future along with three vacant posts so Pratibha Singh is batting to accommodate her loyalist in the future appointments, sources said.

The HP Congress president also apprised party national president Kharge about the Bharat Jodo Yatra and conferences conducted by the party across the state on the anniversary of Bharat Jodo Yatra of Rahul Gandhi.

She said that the Congress organization in the state is working with full strength and unity according to the directions of the party high command. She said that the state Congress is fully prepared for the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year.

Earlier, Pratibha Singh has also held separate meetings with AICC general secretary (organization) K C Venugopal and state affairs in-charge Rajeev Shukla and informed them about various issues related to the organization. She also informed them about the damage caused by heavy rains and landslides in the state.
