A woman was left in a bizarre stand-off after she discovered a herd of cows had invaded her garden.
The creatures appeared to take up camp in the garden in Houston, Texas, on Sunday (July 10) and refused to move – despite the home owner’s repeated attempts.
Rosalind Hobgood can be seen desperately trying to get rid of the random herd to little avail.
The local woman said she was just settling in for a nap around noon when a neighbour called and told her to look outside – where she spotted a white cow outside her window.
She went to her front door and opened it to find three more cows grazing and defecating in her yard – soiling her flowering plant.
The herd appear to have been seeking shade from the hot weather.
A video recorded by her doorbell camera shows three cows in her yard as she steps out and shouts: "Hey! Go somewhere!"
A child can be heard saying: "What the heck is happening?"
Eventually, the cows appear to tire of the grassy spot and slowly traipse away.
Rosalind said police received numerous calls about the herd.
She said: "Eventually [a Houston Police Department] patrol car came out – they did not engage, sat in their car and watched the cows.”
Temperatures reached 103F (39.4C) in Houston on Sunday, and as neighbours laughed and joked about the situation on Facebook, some were kind enough to provide water for the cows, which eventually left through a park.
Since her video went viral, Rosalind said that she has been getting complaints about the statue seen in her yard.
She said the sculpture, which belonged to her deceased parents, is called ‘The Wrestlers’ and depicts the ancient Greek sport of ‘pankration’, which mixed boxing and wrestling.
In similar strange animal news, there's an alpaca who thinks she's a dog.
She has grown up surrounded by humans and domesticated animals - and now doesn't want anything to do with her own kind.
Annie, an alpaca, was rejected by her mum and had to be bottle-fed every two hours by owner Dannie Burns.
Dad-of-three Dannie brought her with him everywhere he went as Annie needed a strict feeding routine, and she lived in his house in Stirling, Scotland, along with three dogs and two cats.
But after causing "too much trouble", the two-year-old alpaca now sleeps on the porch.
Annie is currently expecting her own baby and Dannie is not sure how she will take to motherhood, as she has rejected mixing with the herd of 75 alpacas which roam around in fields.
