Shane Lowry was caught up in a hilarious incident as his playing partner smashed a car windscreen following a dreadful shank.
The incident took place on the 18th hole at Wentworth during the BMW Championship pro-am event on Wednesday. Lowry was playing with an amateur golfer, who was the person in question that hit the wild shot.
Out of respect for his privacy and for his golf game that clearly needs a little bit of work, we've decided not to name the unfortunate player. Shane Lowry has no such qualms however, and has publicly named and shamed his mate on Instagram.
As can be seen in the video below that was posted on Twitter, Lowry's playing partner shanks a shot to the right out of the view of the camera. Muffled laughs can be heard, before a panicky call of "fore!" is yelled by a member of the group.
Lowry posted the video with the caption, "My Pro Am partner's shot into 18 today.
If the owner sees this DM me… we need to get you a new windscreen.
#shank"
The Offaly man didn't just poke fun at his mate, he also showed his class and offered to help get the windscreen in question repaired. Shortly after they finished their round, Lowry took to both Twitter and Instagram and asked the owner to get in touch with him so they can get the windscreen fixed.
Thankfully for the 2019 Open Champion, there were no horror shanks to be seen as he started his week off at Wentworth with a stunning 66 to sit in fourth place on the leaderboard.
