Hilarious Bristol Banksy reviews left on TripAdvisor

Banksy's beautiful artworks can be spotted across our city. Many tourists and local alike pay to go on walking tours to see elusive graffiti artist's creations.

There are 12 pieces dotted around our city and while some have now been removed, many still remain and are getting rave reviews online. Popular pieces include ‘The Girl with the Pierced Eardrum’, ‘The Mild Mild West’ and ‘Well Hung Lover’.

All three pieces have been part of the city for a long time and have gotten people from far and wide visiting the city. Located on Hanover Place and Sydney Row (BS1 6UU), The Girl with the Pierced Eardrum is a take on the title of the painting done by Johannes Vermeer ‘Girl with the pearl earring’.

With a 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor, the piece is the most reviewed of all his artwork. One reviewer left a slightly odd description of it saying: " Interesting to see close up but looks better from afar". Someone else hilariously pondered the creation's name, they wrote: "Not sure why this is called Girl with a Pierced Eardrum as it’s a street art copy of Girl with the Pearl Earring. "

Another reviewer warned people they should be 'prepared to encounter a diverse mix of locals' while trekking around the city to see Banksys. This person was on a tour and said their guild luckily know how to deal with the locals.

And another reviewer found the new addition to the artwork very funny. They said: "We laughed as someone had given this lady a “face covering” which was very cleverly done."

Another piece of artwork popular among visitors was the ‘Well Hung Lover’ located on Park Street (BS1 5HR). This piece has been a part of the city for many years dating back as early as 2006. The creation has been vandalised on a couple of occasions but that doesn’t stop people from loving it.

One reviewer said: “Unmissable iconic Banksy art. On the main walking street. The building dates back to 1600. You'll probably see it without realising.”

Another, who seems to have done their homework, said: “This art is worth looking at and it has an interesting back story about how he did it. Also there is an ice cream shop next door to the piece.”

The final popular piece that has received a 5 star rating on TripAdvisor is Banksy’s piece called the Mild Mild West. Known as one of his earliest works, as early as the 90’s, this piece is located on the Hamilton building in Stokes Croft (BS1 3QY).

One reviewer, who claimed the piece of art should be removed and placed in a museum said: “Interesting, creative and better than 95.5% of art you witness in The Tate. Should be taken off the building and re-housed at The Tate Modern. 21st Century masterpiece that puts Bristol on the map and worth a visit. GREAT!”

While another said: “Great bit of street art! Found near Where the Wall who do street art workshops, which I would also recommend.”
