Hilaria Baldwin is slowly calming down after having to administer an epi pen and rush son Eduardo to the hospital with a severe allergic reaction.
“I’ve never had to administer it on my own…it was a scary experience,” the freaked-out mom posted on Instagram Wednesday. “He is ok now and home, but I share with you to remind you that this is a lifesaving tool you may be able to keep around the house. He was in such distress, and I believe it may have saved him today.”
She exhorted parents to have an epi pen on hand if their doctor recommends, but with training not just in how to use it but also when — with the underlying rule of thumb being, quickly.
“If your doctor thinks you should keep one at home, make sure you know how to use it in advance, because these reactions can come on so strongly and quickly,” she wrote. “I won’t bore you with the long story of rushing him out the door…just leave you with our experience, in case it helps, and our deep gratitude.”
She went on to name the paramedics and hospital personnel who rushed her baby to the hospital and added that all was well with the kiddo — though she was another story.
“Fortunately, when I took this photo, he was back to himself and kicking the phone out of my hand,” she wrote of the 20-month-old tot. “I, on the other hand, was a spent wreck.”
Eduardo “Edu” Pau Lucas is one of the six children Hilaria Baldwin shares with actor husband Alec Baldwin. It was just over a year ago that Edu landed in the ER a first time, diagnosed with an allergy, though she did not specify what it was to, according to E Online.
The couple, married 10 years, have three other sons — Rafael Thomas, Leonardo Angel Charles and Romeo Alejandro David — as well as two daughters, Maria Lucia Victoria and Carmen Gabriela, plus another girl on the way, their seventh. They are all under age 10. Ireland Baldwin, 26, is the actor’s daughter with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
