UK drivers are being warned they face a hefty fine if they break a little-known parking rule.
While most (75%) of the nation's adult population has a driving licence, many motorists are often caught out by less common laws, according to Christian Williams from leading car competitions company BOTB. He told the Mirror: "Many of the laws surrounding UK driving are understood by most road users and wouldn't present much of a problem.
"But what catches drivers out are the less common laws - these are the ones that you likely don't think about when behind the wheel." Mr Williams said many drivers were not aware that they could get a fine if they park against the flow of traffic at night.

The expert said motorists should park their vehicles towards the flow of traffic at night to avoid confusing other drivers, because cars will reflect red from the rear and white from the front.
Failing to adhere to this rule could cost drivers a fine of up to £1,000.
Rule 248 of the Highway Code states: "You MUST NOT park on a road at night facing against the direction of the traffic flow unless in a recognised parking space."
Motorists in cars caught flouting the rules of the Highway Code could be fined £1,000, rising to £2,500 for goods vehicles and passenger vehicles carrying eight people or more.
