Highly touted Ohio State quarterback enters transfer portal

And, here we go again. In the game of college football musical chairs — also known as the transfer portal — it’s awfully hard to keep significant depth on the roster, especially talented options that could be playing elsewhere and seemingly stuck behind a significant talent.

Such is the case with Ohio State with the news that quarterback Air Noland has entered the transfer portal.

Out of Fairburn, Georgia, Noland is a former, high 4-star prospect that committed to OSU in the 2024 class after the Buckeyes lost Dylan Raiola. Since then, Ohio State has landed other options, most notably Alabama transfer Julian Sayin and recent 5-star 2025 commit, Tavien St. Clair. The result has been a bushel of options that Noland must not have felt afforded him the best chance to get on the field to showcase his skills.

Keeping all of these great arms happy has been an ongoing problem for Ohio State going all the way back to Joe Burrow. We’ve also seen Quinn Ewers enter the portal followed by Kyle McCord. Those two dominoes ended up resulting in Ohio State having to dip into the portal itself to lure Will Howard from Kansas State. Backup quarterback, Devin Brown, recently made his own announcement that he will be transferring but remaining with OSU through the College Football Playoff.

We wish nothing but the best of luck to Noland, as all of Buckeye Nation should do. This is just the new, raw reality of college football and what NIL, the transfer portal, and everything else that’s going on with the game right now is all about.
