The shifty and physical running back got off to a strong start in 2022 but suffered a broken fibula in Week 5 during a 39-32 Seattle loss to New Orleans and underwent season-ending surgery.
Now with the NFC Champion Eagles, Penny will look to prove that he can be elite while sharing in the backfield with Kenneth Gainwell, Boston Scott, and Trey Sermon.
With Penny now under contract, here are some top highlights from Philadelpia’s new lead back.

When healthy, Penny is one of the most productive running backs in the NFL, averaging 5.7 yards per carry for his career and 6 yards per carry over the past two years.

Nick Sirianni loves explosive plays.
Here are about a quarter of Rashaad Penny's 57 rushing attempts in 2022. Explosive, runs through contact, good vision. Eagles' RB1 in 2023 barring any surprises. pic.twitter.com/9qiZEHhCZA

Penny’s one-cut-and-go style could make the Eagles’ offensive line more dominant.

If he can stay healthy (big IF), Penny’s hard-nosed running style should thrive behind Jalen Hurts and Philly’s dominant OL. pic.twitter.com/B99IkkeRHk

A first-round pick of the Seahawks in 2018, Penny played college football at San Diego State. In 2017, he led the nation with 2,248 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on 289 carries, finishing fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting and garnering first-team All-American and All-Mountain West honors.
Penny had the best season of his career in 2021, rushing for 749 yards and six touchdowns, but he was limited to only ten games, and he hasn’t played over ten since his rookie season.
