Following Moses Moody’s 34-point outburst against the New York Knicks on Friday, his fellow 2021 draft class member Jonathan Kuminga took over against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night in Las Vegas.
While helping the Golden State Warriors secure their first win of the Summer League, the 2021 No. 7 overall pick dropped a game-high 28 points on 10-of-22 shooting from the field. Kuminga helped push the Warriors to a comeback after trailing by as many as 17 points against the Spurs.
During the Warriors’ comeback effort, Kuminga showed off his full scoring repertoire. The 19-year-old prospect drove to the rack with power and athleticism along with hitting a smooth step-back jumper from beyond the arc.
The G League Ignite product involved his fellow teammates, dropping four assists, including a highlight-worthy alley-oop to James Wiseman in his Summer League debut. Kuminga also added seven boards in 26 minutes.
While he consistently found ways to get to rack up free throw attempts, Kuminga struggled to cash in his stroke from the line, shooting just 7-of-18 from the stripe against the Spurs on Sunday evening.
