Quarterback Jordan Love hit running back Aaron Jones for a 35-yard touchdown pass on 4th-and-3 to extend the Green Bay Packers’ lead to 24-6 over the Chicago Bears in Week 1 of the 2023 season.
Jones ran an angle route from the backfield against Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards. Love hit him in stride, and Jones out-raced Edwards and the Bears defense into the end zone for the score with 6:26 left in the third quarter.
It did appear Jones suffered a leg injury at the end of the run into the end zone.
The scoring drive went 42 yards in four plays after Jayden Reed’s 35-yard punt return.
Jones has scored both of the Packers touchdowns in the second half. He got into the end zone from one yard out to finish off Green Bay’s first possession of the second half, which he sparked to life with a 51-yard catch-and-run. Jones also carried five times for 24 yards on the Packers’ touchdown drive to open the game.
Overall, Jones has 11 touches for 127 yards so far, including two receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown.
