The opening of what will be the highest hotel in Liverpool has been confirmed.
The brand new Novotel Liverpool Paddington Village hotel is situated at the eastern gateway of the city and is one of the tallest buildings in the area. As the 16-storey building is situated on a hill, its top floor will offer the highest hotel rooms in the city, with sweeping panoramic views of Merseyside.
The 221 bed hotel is officially set to open this summer on July 4 and will be the flagship hotel within the £1bn Paddington Village development. Last year the Spine Building also opened on the site which is now the northern home of the Royal College of Physicians and the Pandemic Institute.

In December, plans were also announced for a new building called Hemisphere which could one day join the Novotel and The Spine on the development site overlooking the Liverpool Royal Hospital.
The ECHO was recently invited on a tour of the new Novotel which showed off the range of impressive views which can be seen from the top floors. The hotel also features a large communal space in its lobby, with its bar and restaurant situated on the level above.
Completed by Morgan Sindall Construction, the Liverpool City Council-owned hotel is franchised by Accor and will be managed by Legacy Hotels & Resorts on the authority's behalf. The hotel was designed by Ryder Architecture, with Faithful+Gould acting as project manager.
Last month the ECHO reported that the hotel is set to cost Liverpool City Council £43m. A cabinet report from 2019 put the build cost for the project at £40m.
Howard Lewis will be the hotel’s general manager and will lead the team overseeing the project once it opens to the public next month. He said: "Novotel Liverpool Paddington Village will be a game changer for Liverpool and will bring something new and exciting to the already world-class hospitality offer the city is renowned for.
"As one of the first brands to be part of the £1bn Paddington Village development, we also find ourselves in a unique position of being a main player in the city's vision to be an international destination of significance for life-science, healthcare, and technology industries.
"We are more than just a hotel, and I cannot wait for guests to come through our lobby for an unforgettable hospitality experience, complete with that world-famous Scouse welcome. I want this hotel to be a destination that the local community can be proud of and can call their own."
Cllr Sarah Doyle, Liverpool City Council’s cabinet member for economy and development, said: "The opening of the city’s new Novotel will be a big moment for Paddington Village and the wider Knowledge Quarter. I wish the hotel every success and all who are employed to work there.
