London councils could be encouraged to impose higher parking charges on SUV “supersize” cars if they are found to cause a disproportionate number of road deaths and serious injuries, The Standard has been told.
Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan has asked Transport for London to examine real-life casualty data to establish whether sports utility vehicles are contributing to the number of road deaths in the capital remaining stuck at about 100 a year, in addition to about 3,500 serious injuries from road collisions.
