A high risk sex offender was caught downloading child porn just weeks after being handed a strict supervision order.
Gary Dean also used a device to delete records of what he had been searching for online.
The 57-year-old was back in the dock at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.
He admitted downloading indecent images of children at a flat in Main Street, Blantyre, on April 1 this year.
Dean further admitted breaching the terms of a sexual offences prevention order by deleting his internet browser history.
He was handed a SOPO at the same court on February 16 this year and put on the sex offenders' register for five years.
It meant he was under police supervision in the community and any internet devices he used were examined routinely.
Jennifer Cunningham, prosecuting, said 17 indecent images featuring girls aged between four and 16 were found on a tablet and a phone belonging to Dean.
It was also established that a device capable of 'cleaning' browser history had been installed.
Dean told police officers he had been viewing adult porn and various links led him to images of children.
He insisted he hadn't searched for the images then told his supervising officers: "I know you have all tried, but this is on me. I'm sorry."
Sheriff Ray Small deferred sentence until August 25 for background reports and a risk assessment.
Dean, who has been in custody since April, remains behind bars.
