As Ireland prepares for a polar plunge in temperatures to below freezing, the chance that we'll get some snow increases.
We've yet to see flurries fall in winter, with an unusually warm spell so far seeing temperatures hit 16C earlier in November.
Now, it appears that we're going to see things return to normal, with a cold snap incoming for the next couple of days.
It's not just Ireland that's being affected by the arctic conditions either - with the UK Met Office putting in rainfall and flood warnings and expecting snow to land in Scotland.
There are 11 flood warnings and 88 flood alerts in place in England, an amber rain warning was issued for the northeast of Scotland from the early hours until 3pm on Friday.
Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan said the weekend would be "quite clear" with a chance of snow.
"It stays quite clear over the weekend," he said.
"We may see the first snowflakes of autumn over high ground and in the Scottish hills and the Pennines."
Meanwhile, in Ireland, Friday night will start the weekend bitterly cold.
The latest forecast reads: "Tonight will be mostly cold, dry and clear with isolated mist and fog patches. Some frost will develop inland as temperatures fall to between -2 and +3 degrees in light variable breezes. Cloud will build in from the west towards morning.
"Tomorrow will begin dry and bright for most. Cloud will continue to build from the west with outbreaks of rain following through the morning, turning heavy at times, extending eastwards to all parts by the evening as a clearance to showers follows in to the west and southwest. Blustery too with fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds, moderating westerly in the clearance from the rain.
"Highest temperatures of 6 to 11 degrees, mildest along southern and western coasts."
