Hideo Kojima still isn't done, Death Stranding 2's PC port brings "new modes and features" that the PS5 is also getting, and we'll learn more next month

Death Stranding 2.

After some not-so-vague social media posts from Hideo Kojima, the PC port of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was announced at the most recent State of Play. Besides getting some platform-specific features, there are new modes and other new aspects on the way for both the PC and PS5 versions.

A PlayStation blog from Jay Boor, head of publishing at Kojima Productions, provided a small tease following the announcement. "New modes and features will be coming to both PC and PS5 at launch that will offer players new challenges and rewards," reads the post.

We'll hear more about what this will entail in March. The first game got similar treatment via the director's cut, adding fresh missions, equipment and quality-of-life tweaks to make playing a bit more pleasurable.

The mention of "new challenges and rewards" sounds like On The Beach might be dialing up the difficulty with more optional missions for cool unlockables. But that's speculation, and thankfully, there isn't long to wait. Players on PC will already be able to optimize the second outing of Sam Bridges as they see fit, using upscalers and uncapped framerates.

Ports and re-releases aren't all that's happening in the world of Death Stranding. There are no fewer than three screen adaptations happening: two movies and an animated show. The latter is a spin-off, unrelated to what we see in the two games.

Outside of all of this, Kojima has another major PlayStation project in the works, Physint, which remains unrevealed, and OD, a horror game for Xbox. He's a busy man, that's for sure. Death Stranding 2 comes to PC on March 19.

Sounding like the coolest guy in the room, Hideo Kojima says him being creative "isn't special," it's just as natural as eating: "If creativity were taken out of my daily life, I probably wouldn't survive"
