Hideo Kojima is no stranger to offering his opinions on movies and TV, and he's returned with another viewing recommendation.
"Watched episode 2 of Nihon Sangoku. Man, it's still so fun, isn't it!" Kojima wrote on Twitter (via the platform's automatic translation). "It's super hilarious! Total hit. And get this, Jun Fukuyama and Kazuhiro Yamaji showed up too. Oh man, I'm thrilled. What’s with this anime – somehow watching it makes me talk in 'Kansai dialect.' Gonna watch more"
Nippon Sangoku hit Prime Video on April 5, and it's also airing on Japanese TV. The anime is adapted from Ikka Matsuki's manga, which is set in the aftermath of a nuclear war, a pandemic, and a natural disaster. Following mismanagement from the government, the country splits into three kingdoms – and, a century later, one man tries to unify them once more.
Kojima regularly shares his recommendations on social media. Earlier this year, he revealed that Sinners, KPop Demon Hunters, and Pluribus made the cut of his favorite releases of 2025.
Last year, Kojima also had a starring role in one of the biggest movies to be released. He had a voice cameo in the Japanese version of Zootopia 2, voicing a character named Paul Moldebrandt. Zootopia 2 was the highest grossing Hollywood movie of the year, beating Avatar: Fire and Ash.
"Hideo is still making games in very much the way that he made Metal Gear, where it is so conceptualized, and so huge, and so thought out that I think the only way he knows how to swing is big," Troy Baker recently told us in an interview ahead of the 2026 BAFTA Game Awards. "And when you do that with trust, and you surround yourself with talented people – not only in the cast, but also in the crew – and you still execute that, man, it's a miracle. Truly is a miracle."
