Hidden white-sand West Country beach is 'heaven' on earth

July and August are the busiest months of the year for beaches, so it's nice to know a few 'secret' coastlines that most tourists don't visit.

Here in the West Country, we are blessed with endless options for a day at the seaside, but that does mean the main spots - like Weston or St Ives - can become very busy with visitors. However, there are still hidden gems and one TikToker has shared the perfect spot.

The little-known white-sand destination has crystal clear waters and an almost empty beach. Tikky Cutler wrote on the social media platform: "Heaven in England."

Footage of Pedn Vounder, near Penzance, shows stunning white soft sand and slow-lapping waves, along with the caption: "Took a paddleboard out to find secret beaches in Cornwall." Despite its beauty, Pedn Vounder is rarely mentioned in tourist guides.

One reason for the lack of crowds could be its location. It's nestled among the striking cliffs of Treryn Dinas and is quite a trek down to the beach, which could put lots of people off.

It's also an unofficial nudist beach, so be prepared if you do decide to visit. Unsurprisingly, TripAdvisor reviewers were very impressed with the spot, awarding it an impressive 4 and 1/2 stars.

One person wrote: "The most gorgeous beach I have ever visited! So quiet despite going in July on a sunny day. We checked tide times and wore appropriate clothing beforehand which is a definite must if wanting to visit this beach. Access would be impossible if not in correct footwear or not physically fit."

Another penned: "This is a very beautiful beach, stunning weather-worn cliffs form a grand backdrop to Crystal clear water. Swimming is fantastic, cold crisp, beware of the strong currents here though."

A third penned: "Stunning little beach, difficult to get to, don't go if not nimble on your feet. Yes it's a nudist beach, lots of nude folk, so if offended don't go."

It's quite a long drive for Birstolians, taking around four hours along the M5. Trains from Temple Meads will take you to Penzance and from there you would have to get a bus. This trip would take around five hours.
