Hidden underground Nottingham clothes shop opens with a unique theme

A brand new underground clothes store has opened in Radford and it has a unique theme. Located on Hartley Road, stairs lead down to the Boutique Garden which opened in September.

Owner Amin Yassini and his partner Iwona Tauer, have brought their unique idea to life in a hidden underground boutique. The clothes store sells a range of affordable women's clothes and accessories.

The idea for the basement space came to Iwona after she was inspired during lockdown to open boutique. So far the store has taken off and is doing well online with orders on the website, however due to it being ‘hidden’ not many customers are aware of the new store.

The 47-year-old from Nottingham said: “Not many people know about this place, it’s underground and hidden. It was empty for a long time, I was helping to do everything, all the jobs here by myself.

“It’s for teenagers, youngers and elders as well. The age range is from 17 to 60s, all ages. At the boutique we’re starting to introduce new items and new accessories.

“We don’t order the same clothing, we try to be unique and have different clothes. I would say it’s unique, like I said, not having the same items, having different designs, even from the colours, we have a huge range.”

Iwona spent a month decorating and helping Amin with the Boutique Garden and before it opened.

Iwona told Nottinghamshire Live the idea for the boutique came from watching shopping livestreams on social media during the pandemic. She was then inspired by her flower décor at home to have the garden floral theme.

She continued: “It started in lockdown. People started doing live streams on Facebook and the idea came from that. Seeing items being sold online and people buying them. So then I thought about opening a shop, where people can see the quality, check if they look nice in the trousers, see how the clothes fit, if they’re stretchy.”

“It came because I’ve got a lot of flowers and a wall of artificial flowers at home. Because it’s underground I wanted to put in artificial grass. When people are going down you think you're going into a garden. Here you have summer all year round.”

The store is closed on Mondays and open Tuesday to Sunday from 11am until 5pm. The Boutique Garden can be found between Top Travel Holiday and the Today Grill House on Hartley Road.
