Hibs star's Celtic Park miss 'big moment' in Hoops win says boss as ace defended after horror shot

Hibs head coach Shaun Maloney has jumped to the defence of Kevin Nisbet after his shock moment against Celtic.

The Hoops ran out 2-0 winners as the Premiership kicked off again post-winter break, Daizen Maeda and Josip Juranovic goals before half-time sealing victory.

Maeda's goal came after four minutes but a shot from Cambuslang's Nisbet 60 seconds earlier could have changed the game entirely.

Martin Boyle cut down the right and handed the forward a tap-in. He hit the shot with the inside of his boot from a couple of yards out and hit the post.

Maloney says it was a turning point but won't hammer the Cambuslang man for it: “That was a big moment.

"Sometimes in these games those are the fine margins which have an impact.

“But I can’t say too much about Kevin because he’s been excellent since I’ve been here. He was probably the difference for us against Dundee United.

"In those moments, sometimes strikers take them and sometimes they don’t. I’m pretty sure in the next game, he’ll be in exactly the same position and he has the quality to take it.”
