Hibs player ratings v Hearts as Martin Boyle debut assessed and David Marshall ages like fine wine

Martin Boyle's return to Hibs has been capped off in the most dramatic way as his late goal sparked a pitch invasion and salvaged a 1-1 Premiership draw against Hearts.

It was a fantastic start for the away side at Easter Road as Barrie McKay played a sublime chip in behind the home defence for Lawrence Shankland to score the first Edinburgh derby goal of the season. He then had to look alive at the other end by scooping a goal-bound Elie Youan effort off the Jambos goal line.

Lee Johnson's Hibs were pressing and probing for that leveller on a day of frantic action and noise, Craig Gordon proving his credentials as Scotland's number one keeper with an outstanding one-handed stop. His former competitor David Marshall made a heroic double save at the other end to keep Hearts at bay as their confidence grew.

Boyle's heroic return beckoned from the Hibees bench as he netted a leveller with the last kick off the ball to steal a share of the points..

Here is how we rated the Hibs players in Leith.

READ MORE: Martin Boyle on his whirlwind Hibs return and Hearts derby phone call as he takes place on bench

David Marshall - 8

A cracking double save denied Hearts from taking a certain two-goal lead and he made two or three other stops in the game. Getting better with age.

Chris Cadden - 6

Got up and down the right-hand-side all afternoon but didn't provide much attacking threat and McKay was a handful.

Rocky Bushiri - 6

An aggressive shift. Looked comfortable for most of the game with an odd moment of peculiarity. Missed a major chance to score the equaliser, somehow.

Ryan Porteous - 6

Booked. Threatened to get carried away by derby atmosphere but collected himself and walked the tight rope well.

Marijan Cabraja - 6

Alan Forrest never got much of a look in up against the Croatian, who couldn't offer too much the other way.

Nohan Kenneh - 5

Couple of decent tackled in front of the back four but found himself overrun at times. Lost Shankland for the goal

Elias Melkersen - 5

Played out of position on the wing and did nothing of note. A difficult shift.

Josh Campbell - 6

An industrious shift but there will be concern after he came off with a sore-looking ankle issue.

Joe Newell - 6

Tried to be the game's playmaker but was overshadowed in that department by McKay.

Ewan Henderson - 5

Largely anonymous and didn't really provide any attacking spark, again out of position on the left.

Elie Youan - 7

Plenty of effort and looked the most likely route to goal for Hibs. Bags of pace and made Craig Gordon work.

Christian Doidge - 4

Subbed on after 54 minutes and didn't really do a lot after that.

Martin Boyle - 8

Obviously short on sharpness but what a huge moment for the Australian cap. His addition will be a huge boost once up to speed.

Doyle-Hayes - 3

Came on as a late sub.

Hibs XI: Marshall, Cadden, Rocky, Porteous, Cabraja, Kenneh, Newell, Campbell, Melkersen, Henderson, Youan.

Subs: Dabrowski, Miller, Hanlon, Doyle-Hayes, Doidge, Bojang, McGregor, O MacIntyre, Boyle.
