Hibs forward Daniel MacKay joins Livingston on season-long loan

Hibs forward Daniel MacKay has joined Livingston on loan.

The former Inverness winger, 22, has agreed a season-long switch to the fellow Scottish Premiership side.

MacKay joined Hibs in 2021 but has played just seven times for the club since the move.

He was, however, involved in pre-season training with Lee Johnson's side before being allowed to move on loan for more game time.

“I have followed Dan’s career since his Inverness days under John Robertson and he has gone on and played a lot of football for a lad that has not long turned 22," said Livingston boss David Martindale of the signing.

“He’s very direct, has great pace and a very good right foot, scoring a variety of goals – there’s certainly a lot to like about him.

“Dan will come in and add to our options in the final third – being able to play off both the left and right and has also played through the middle when called upon on occasion.

“I would like to offer my thanks to Dan, his agent and Hibernian for their help in getting Dan along to Livingston FC.”

A Hibs club statement read: "Hibs forward Dan MacKay has joined Livingston FC on loan for the upcoming 2023/24 campaign.

"The 22-year-old midfielder will join up with David Martindale’s side on a season-long loan deal, with an option to buy at the end of the campaign.

"Since joining the Hibees in summer 2021, Dan has gone on to make seven competitive appearances for the Club, scoring one goal.

"MacKay has spent the majority of his time out on loan, initially with Kilmarnock FC before spending the 2022/23 season at Inverness Caledonian Thistle - where he scored five times in 40 appearances for the cinch Championship side.

"Over the summer, MacKay has played several times for the Hibees in pre-season featuring predominantly off the bench and will now join up with Livingston FC to gain more regular First Team football opportunities.

"Everyone at the Club wishes Dan the best of luck during his time at Livingston."
