Hezbollah's Qassem: Hamas' Attacks Sparked Middle East Transformation

Sheik Naim Kassem, Hezbollah's deputy leader speaks during a memorial of a Hezbollah fighter who killed few days ago in South Lebanon by an Israeli airstrike, in Beirut, Lebanon, Thursday, Dec. 28, 20

Hezbollah's deputy secretary general, Naim Qassem, recently stated that Hamas' attacks on Israel a year ago marked the beginning of a transformation in the Middle East. This comes as Israel escalates its military actions on multiple fronts in a region experiencing heightened tensions.

Qassem emphasized the role of Iran in supporting the resistance movements, highlighting Iran's longstanding contributions to the cause. He also mentioned significant military losses suffered by the enemy in northern Israel, although not officially reported.

The anniversary of the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel was marked on October 8, with tensions escalating following Israeli attacks on Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon. These attacks resulted in civilian casualties, including children, and the assassination of Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

Subsequently, Israel launched a sustained aerial campaign and ground incursion in south and east Lebanon, prompting retaliatory rocket attacks from Hezbollah towards Israel. The violence has led to over 1,400 deaths in Lebanon, according to local authorities.

Hezbollah's decision to engage in hostilities with Israel was framed as a show of solidarity with Hamas and Palestinians facing Israeli assaults in Gaza. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported a significant death toll of 41,909 people due to the Israeli attacks.

As a result of Hezbollah's rocket barrages, around 60,000 Israeli civilians have been displaced from their homes, adding to the humanitarian impact of the conflict.
