Israel initiated a ground incursion into southern Lebanon on October 1 in response to what it deemed as 'immediate threats' posed by Hezbollah along the border. The IDF's objectives included eliminating Hezbollah's capability to target northern Israel and prevent any potential infiltration into the country.
