Heroic off-duty officer stops knife-wielding robber from stealing phones in Hackney

A knife-wielding teenager who was detained by an off-duty officer while trying to snatch phones from people in Hackney has been convicted.

The 17-year-old was found guilty of assault, possession of an offensive weapon and one count of threatening a person with a bladed article at Stratford Magistrates Court on Friday, June 9.
