Dublin Fire Brigade have saved the life of a small puppy that got its head accidentally stuck in electric gates.
The incident happened in Dun Laoghaire earlier today, when residents heard the stray puppy howling for over two hours. Dublin Fire Brigade were called out to the scene, quickly freeing the distressed pup.
It is understood that the pup did not sustain any serious injuries. One neighbour thanked Dublin Fire Brigade for their assistance in rescuing the puppy, saying that the firefighters were "swift and gentle" throughout the rescue.

Taking to social media, one grateful neighbour wrote: "Dear @DubFireBrigade thanks for rescuing the puppy who got its head stuck in railings of electric gates in Dun Laoghaire today! After pitiful howling for almost 2hrs and crowds of neighbours trying to stop it breaking its own neck, your men were swift, gentle and a credit to you."
Taking to social media, Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted: "Dun Laoghaire's A Watch didn't paws for thought to help Rex after he got his head stuck between railings and feeling a bit woof earlier today. Pictured here with his new best friend, Firefighter Joyce, everyone was relieved this was a tail with a happy ending."
Other social media users also praised Dublin Fire Brigade for their services. One person wrote: "Fair play to them for helping the poor little fella."
Another said: "Brilliant. Well done all."
Last month, a newly recruited firefighter bravely jumped into a Dublin river to rescue a dog. The fireman, named only as Sean, managed to pluck the dog, Lemon, out of the water after it got stuck in rough conditions in the River Dodder and had to be hauled back to dry land.
