Hermes Brings Parisian Flair to New York City's Pier 36 With Its Second Fall Runway Show

While the official start of summer is just days away, Hermes is already taking us into fall in the most dramatic way. On Thursday night, the Parisian fashion house took over New York City's Pier 36 to debut the second chapter of its Fall 2024 show, coined as Resort 2025. As huge yellow lights hung over the runway and a Hermes "Manhattan Rocabar" cocktail bar, Artistic Director Nadège Vanhée created an urban oasis that beautifully married the multifaceted culture of New York City and the high-end appeal of Paris.

As guests entered the show space, the phrase "Do you like my accent? I'm French," boomed over the speakers accompanied by a distinct beat. After settling in, attendees were catapulted into show mode with Anok Yai hitting the runway in a colorful yet sophisticated ensemble featuring a blue, textured mock-neck top layered under a printed shirt styled with scarlet pants, a mustard yellow trench with brown leather sleeves and collar, dark brown ankle boots and a tan handbag. Her accessories included a black leather hat and the brand's classic belt, depicting 70s Parisian flair at its finest.

Many of the models wore similar looks in the same palette. Biker-inspired jumpsuits and jackets, scarves that doubled as belts, printed skirt sets and other nostalgic silhouettes decorated the catwalk, portraying a conversation between the two cultures. Like other aspects of the city, New York City's style is a melting pot of different tastes and aesthetics (including Parisian) with an overarching theme of versatility, which Hermes effortlessly nailed. Think bags worn around the waist, clutches propped up in the safety of an elbow and quintessential outerwear styled in a real-life way, like black leather jackets being belted.

While we're all hoping for an invite to Vanhée's next production, keep scrolling through for some of the highlights of the designer's latest offering.
