With the success of the Fallout show on Amazon Prime has sparked interest in the different titles of the franchise. It's been widely reported that the games in the series have seen an increase in the number of players.
We're going to take a quick look at some of those games. Today we'll focus on the main games of which there are four.
A Blast from the Past
Let's begin with the one that started it all. The first Fallout game was released way back in 1997 and put players in the role of a Vault Dweller from Vault 13. They're initially asked to solve the water crisis in the Vault but later learned of a far greater threat to the Wasteland.
This game offered a classis RPG experience which featured rather extensive build options and dialogue choices. Players get to explore a California that's been turned to a wasteland and see fledging towns, raider camps, and occupied ruins. They also get to meet a wide range of characters, each one having their own personal agendas.
The Sequel
It wouldn't be long for the second game to come out with Fallout 2 releasing in 1998. In this one, players take on the role of the Chosen One, who is actually the grandchild of the Vault Dweller in the first game. This time they have to save the tribe from famine and to do that they'll need to find the mysterious device known as G.E.C.K.
This time around they get to journey not only to Northern California but also in some art of Oregon. Along the way they get to encounter the Enclave, considered as one of the greatest evils. Players also get to see the results of two generations passing since the original game like the rise of the New California Republic and the existence of crime syndicates and even mutant societies.
One of the new features in this one is that players can now repair and drive a car.
Starting from Scratch
Fallout 3 was released in 2008 and now set in Vault 101. Players now start as an infant and even experience childhood. They even get to take the G.O.A.T. exam before being thrusted to a new crisis when their father goes missing. In the game, they get to travel across Washington DC and even the wider Capital Wasteland in their search.
Like with the previous titles, there's a lot to do in this one. There are the fights between the Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave. There's also skirmishes against Super Mutants and Raiders. Players also get to meet new companions like the Super Mutant Fawkes or the robot RL-3.
While the first two games were only available for the PC, Fallout 3 now added the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
A New Search
Released in 2015, Fallout 4 lets you experience the cool breeze of the Atlantic Ocean as players look though historical Boston for their mission son. This time they're getting out of Vault 111 and try to learn the truth behind the stories of mysterious synthetic humans.
In the game players get to appreciate New England and American History and even enjoy what it means to be in a Power Armor. For those who want to take a break from the main missions, they can take the time to relax in Far Harbor and possibly in Nuka-World.
Fallout 4 is available for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
