Workers can get up to 47 days of holiday in 2023 by utilising just 19 days of annual leave. Here’s how you can make the most of your holiday allowance next year.

There’s no better feeling than putting that ‘out of office’ email response on, and with this advice you may find yourself doing that more frequently over the next year. By booking your annual leave around these bank holidays you can maximise your time off, Liverpool Echo reports.

Here are the 19 dates of annual leave that you should book off in advance for 2023 to bag yourself a massive 47 days off. This applies to those who work a standard Monday to Friday job with bank holidays off.

April

Start the year off right with a lengthy Easter break. Good Friday is on April 7, and Easter Monday is on April 10. By booking four working days off as annual leave you can enjoy a ten day break.

You’ll need to book off:

  • Monday, April 3
  • Tuesday, April 4
  • Wednesday, April 5
  • Thursday, April 6

May

There’s always plenty to do around the May Bank Holiday, and here’s how you can get a solid nine days off just by booking four days of annual leave. The May Bank Holiday falls on May 1, you will need to book off:

  • Tuesday, May 2

  • Wednesday, May 3

  • Thursday, May 4

  • Friday, May 5

End of May/early June

Two holidays in a month? Yes, that's right. Book off four days surrounding the Spring Bank Holiday on Monday May 29 and you’ll find yourself with nine days off. You’ll need to book off:

  • Tuesday, May 30

  • Wednesday, May 31

  • Thursday, June 1

  • Friday, June 2

End of August/early September

If you want another nine days off - who doesn’t - then book these four dates around the Summer Bank Holiday on August 28. You’ll need to book off:

  • Tuesday, August 29

  • Wednesday, August 30

  • Thursday, August 31

  • Friday, September 1

December

Now for a bumper ten-day Christmas break, here are the three days you should book off using annual leave. Christmas Day is a bank holiday, Monday December 25, along with Boxing Day, Tuesday December 26.

  • Wednesday, December 27

  • Thursday, December 28

  • Friday, December 29
