A 32-year-old woman arrived at a hospital in Leshan, Sichuan, with four hours of sharp right-sided abdominal pain at 19 weeks and one day of pregnancy. Scans showed something in her right adnexa but could not say what. Three hours after admission, surgeons looked inside and found her right ovary and fallopian tube twisted repeatedly around their own supporting ligaments and already black and purple with necrosis.
There was no cyst. No tumor. Nothing that should have made the ovary heavy enough to spin.
