Henry Cejudo Predicts Joaquin Buckley Will Beat Colby Covington

Former two-division simultaneous UFC champion Henry Cejudo believes Colby Covington will lose to Joaquin Buckley in their welterweight fight on December 14. ‘Triple C’ says he ‘can see Covington losing via stoppage’ in his next fight against Buckley at UFC on ESPN 63 next month.

Henry Cejudo Issues Warning To Colby Covington

Henry Cejudo is a highly respected man when it comes to MMA. Not only is Cejudo an Olympic Gold Medallist in wrestling, but he was previously a two-division simultaneous UFC champion as well.

The American won the UFC Flyweight Title when beating Demetrius Johnson, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest MMA fighters ever. Just two fights later, Cejudo added a second UFC belt to his collection up at bantamweight, beating Marlon Moraes to win the 135-pound strap before defending it against another former champion in Dominick Cruz.

Although not officially retired, Cejudo is seen talking about the UFC far more than actually competing nowadays. Given his name and reputation, fans tend to listen to what he has to say rather attentively.

Ahead of the UFC on ESPN 63 show on December 14 in Florida, ‘The Messenger’ has weighed-in with his opinion on how the main event between Colby Covington and Joaquin Buckley could play out.

Despite being the bigger name and a three-time UFC Welterweight Title challenger, Henry Cejudo is predicting that it won’t be a winning night for ‘Chaos’. That would be a statement, with Covington viewed as the favourite with the best UFC betting sites in the UK.

‘I Can See Covington Losing Via Stoppage’ – Cejudo

Although Covington is the favourite with the best UK betting sites, Joaquin Buckley is coming into the fight fresh off the back of the biggest win of his career at UFC 307.

Buckley knocked out former title challenger Stephen Thompson in October, meanwhile Covington hasn’t competed since his unanimous decision defeat to Leon Edwards in their title fight at UFC 296 last December.

Speaking on his podcast with Kamaru Usman, a man who has beaten Covington twice, Henry Cejudo admits that he doesn’t see Covington posing any real threat to Buckley, and that he could end up losing the fight via knockout if he isn’t careful:

“The style that Colby Covington is doing is so predictable now,” Cejudo said on his Pound 4 Pound podcast with Usman.

“The fact that they see him lose time and time again, whether it’s with Leon Edwards or yourself (Usman), it’s there. Once you stop Colby’s takedowns, things will fall into place.

“Look at how Joaquin covers distance, bro. Double feints, dipping in to eventually stop a dude like ‘Wonderboy.’ So, I’m high on this kid. This kid is dangerous. I can see Colby Covington losing via stoppage to a guy like Joaquin Buckley, and I truly do believe that.”
