Henry Cejudo has jokingly leapt to Conor McGregor's defence after Jose Aldo accused him of taking a "fake retirement" to raise his purses in the UFC.
Cejudo recently revealed he is planning to make a return to the promotion having retired with victory over Dominick Cruz in 2020. 'Triple C' announced his re-enrolment in the USADA testing pool, and has called for fights which will allow him to become the promotion's first triple champion.
Aldo recently fired a dig at Cejudo on social media over his planned return, tweeting after his call-out to champion Aljamain Sterling: "We are currently the two best bantamweights in the UFC. The other one is a clown who faked his retirement just to try to raise his purse - as that did not work now he wants to fight for the title after spending two years out of the game (and out of the USADA’s pool).
Cejudo produced a sharp response which jokingly defended rival McGregor: "Why are you picking on Conor McGregor? He broke his leg. I’m glad you are learning English though. Sincerely the King of Brazil." Cejudo is eyeing a shot at becoming the first man to win a title in three different weight classes but is concerned he could be beaten to it by McGregor.
The Irishman is plotting his return to the octagon later this year and is eyeing a switch to 170lbs where he could receive a title shot at Kamaru Usman.

Cejudo mocked McGregor on social media after he posted footage of his recent return to training, with the Irishman quick to dismiss his insult branding his rival a "fart". Cejudo later accused McGregor of "manipulating" his way to titles with his status in the UFC with the Irish superstar telling Cejudo to stop messaging him and later branding him a "fat midget novice".
The American star is being relentless in his pursuit of further title glory but has conceded his rival may have the first opportunity. "[Alexander Volkanovski's] only a couple inches taller than me," Cejudo told ESPN MMA. 'It's a very winnable fight and I love the fact that I could become the first three-division champ.
"Because we all know, America's sweetheart, you know, Conor McGregor, that blue-eyed devil, you know, Dana White, you know, he's gonna be the first one to get that crack at the three belts. But man, this one's gonna be earned this was earned for me."
