Henry Cavill has revealed that he and girlfriend Natalie Viscuso are expecting their first child.
The Witcher actor, 40, announced the news at the premiere of his next film, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, in New York on Monday night.
“I’m very excited about it. Natalie and I are both very excited about it. I’m sure you’ll see much more of that,” Cavill told Access Hollywood.
Cavill previously discussed wanting to become a father but feared it was “starting to get quite late” for him.
He told Men’s Health UK in 2017: "If I ever have kids one day, I want to be the dad who’s running around after them. And if I do have kids, even now, it’s starting to get quite late.
“But I want to be a fit and healthy dad, not hobbling around like, ‘OK, I’m just going to catch a breather’."
Cavill and Viscuso, who is an executive at Vertigo Entertainment, confirmed their relationship on Instagram in 2021.
A month later, Cavill shared another photo addressing critics this time round, writing: “I am very happy in love, and in life. I’d be enormously grateful if you were happy for me. If you can’t bring yourself to be happy for me, then at the very least try to do yourself proud and be the best version of yourself.”
The couple made their first red carpet appearance at the New York premiere of Cavill's Netflix movie, Enola Holmes 2, in October 2022.
The news of his impending fatherhood comes as Cavill promoted The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare directed by Guy Ritchie in New York.
The spy action-comedy depicts a special forces organisation formed by Winston Churchill during the Second World War and is inspired by recently declassified British War Department files and events.
The movie also features Eiza Gonzalez, Alan Ritchson, Henry Golding, Alex Pettyfer, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Babs Olusanmokun, and Cary Elwes.
It will be released in US cinemas on April 19, but will premiere in the UK on Prime Video later this year.
