A "very stressed" dog was rescued by customs officers from a plastic container at Dublin Port.
Officers discovered the feeble canine after an X-ray of the vehicle revealed the pooch inside last Wednesday. A search found the dog was put inside a large plastic container.
Customs and excise officers immediately called the DSPCA following the discovery. The dog was a young male Saluki-type cross and was transported to the shelter by a DSPCA inspector.

The dog was examined by the charity's veterinary team who found he was "underweight and very stressed," a DSPCA spokesperson said on Instagram. They added: "He was not microchipped nor did he have any of the relevant vaccinations or paperwork to allow him to travel. This is an ongoing investigation."
The spokesperson went on to thank the "continued vigilant work of the Customs and Excise Officers at Dublin Port".
