Rugby star Richie Myler, the ex-husband of Helen Skelton, has deleted his Instagram account after an explosive post where he promised to "remove people one by one" if they shared photos of his life maliciously.
The 32-year-old first indicated how he planned to set his profile on the photo sharing app to 'private', meaning only those who follow him can view the content he posts. But he then decided to delete the page entirely. He had used his page to post about his achievements with Leeds Rhinos, along with updates on his life with his girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill.
Mr Myler, who has three children with Strictly star Helen, posted: “I’ve decided to put my profile private from now on. If you are on here to share my photos or stories of me and my life maliciously to other people or waste your time sending me abusive messages please just unfollow me. I'm going to start removing people from my account one by one, so if you are a genuine rugby fan and I accidentally remove you I apologise in advance and will accept you back! Thank you Richie." Helen Skelton, who has credited Strictly Come Dancing for 'putting a smile back on her face' after a difficult few months, had posted glamorous pictures of herself on her Instagram page on Friday night, along with the caption: "Appreciation post….. I have never been good at taking proper insta pics, I am however insanely grateful for the clothes, hair and make up that have made me feel fab over the last few months."
The mum announced last April that she and husband of eight years Richie had gone their separate ways four months after the birth of their third child. Her former partner Richie has since moved on with Stephanie Thirkill, the daughter of his rugby club's president Andrew Thirkill and the pair are expecting their first child together.
Helen said at the time: "I don’t see myself as a victim. There are a lot of people who have been in my situation who haven’t been given the opportunities that I’ve got. Don’t get me wrong, I have my days when I’m p***** off. But equally, in this job, you’re in a lot of people’s lives, which gives you a phenomenal amount of perspective. I think mine is a job that gives you lots of perspective, so it’s very difficult to say ‘woe is me’."
