Helen Skelton pays sweet tribute to Leeds as she stuns in glamorous dress on Strictly Come Dancing

Presenter Helen Skelton has paid tribute to Leeds during her first appearance of this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

The Countryfile star from Cumbria has made Leeds her home and now lives close to Roundhay Park with her three children and dogs. The 39-year-old, who has been partnered with professional dancer Gorka Márquez, is already the favourite to win the popular BBC dancing contest.

During tonight's launch show, Helen paid a sweet tribute to her hometown and revealed how important green spaces were to her. She told viewers: "Roundhay Park is really easy for me, it's just five minutes from the house.

"It's kind of got everything if you want a bit of fresh air and greenery in the city.

"When you grow up in the countryside, on a farm like I did, I think you spend your teenage years trying to get away from it and your adult years trying to get back to it and this for me is the next best thing."

Strictly fans were delighted to see her on their screens and were left gushing over the beautiful dress she wore during her introduction.

Adrian praised: "Helen Skelton in that dress," followed by a chef's kiss meme.

Kevin G Conroy wrote: "Aw love Helen Skelton. I have a feeling she’s going to be good."

Kelly Baker tweeted: "Well I’m already wanting Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez to win.. want a fab partnership."

And Kathryne McGloin messaged her: "Get out there and have a ‘glitter’ ball! So inspired by your resilience and positivity."
