Helen Flanagan tries new style of parenting after suffering 'mum guilt' over bank holiday hangover

Helen Flanagan decided to try out a new style of parenting after admitting to suffering 'mum guilt' while experiencing a bank holiday hangover. The Bury-born actress let her hair down as she headed out on a girl's night out on Sunday evening (April 30).

Taking to Instagram on Monday morning (May 1), mum-of-three Helen shared how she took a night of parenting duties and headed out into Manchester with a pal. She looked sensational as she posed outside Kitten in an all-black ensemble.

Helen, 32, could be seen rocking a leather-look shirt, with a number of the buttons undone, which she paired with matching skin-tight trousers before slipping on a pair of barely-there heels. Posting a video of her rolling around the floor at home as she tied her shoes, Helen typed: "Tried to do a GRWM [get ready with me] before I went out tipsy."

The former Coronation Street star then shared a video of her posing for a video which showed her blonde locks perfectly curled. "Glam yesterday," she typed alongside the video. "Now look like a gremlin with all my kids screaming down my ears."

Helen, who shares Matilda, seven, Delilah, four, and two-year-old son with her ex-fiance Scott Sinclair, then proceeded to share a brief snippet of her children's 'tantrums'. And she later returned to her Instagram Story to share how she was feeling guilty not taking her children out and instead having a chilled day indoors.

"Oh guys, I've got the worst mum guilt ever today," she confessed to the camera in a video posted to her one million followers. "I've just been so hungover. I can't remember the last time I was so hungover that I just chilled in the house and I do feel guilty about it because the kids have just chilled with me all day.

The former Corrie star opened up to her followers (Helen Flanagan Instagram)

"My mum popped round and took Delilah, not because I was hungover, but it was Delilah's turn to go to my mums. But it just happened sometimes, doesn't it? I'm usually really good with my drinking. I wasn't really drunk but I usually know my limited of, 'You'll be hungover in the morning. One more glass and you're going to be hungover,' and yeah, I'm sure I'm probably not the only one in the boat with mum guilt with maybe a hangover."

She did quickly add she doesn't 'make a habit of it' and shared how she always likes to make sure she's doing stuff with her children, who she shares with her ex-fiance and footballer Scott Sinclair. Helen then explained how Charlie has got into a habit of 'launching' himself at her when she is sitting on the sofa and even Delilah had started to hit her.

"Matilda is honestly just such good girl. She's such a little angel and then I felt really guilty she's just watched cartoons and stuff today and I haven't done that much... Delilah was just... I don't understand what her behaviour is. She gets so jealous of her brother... She was whacking me as well. I was like, 'What's happening to my child?'"

Helen later shared a video of herself cuddling an upset Delilah and shared how she was trying some gentle parenting. Alongside the clip, she penned: "Found these from today. Love Delilah more than words but her behaviour was crazy today with hitting etc." She added: "Instead of shouting (always makes Delilah 100 times worse) I tried more gentle parenting." In the video, Helen could be heard asking her little girl to tell her what it was that was upsetting her and reassuring her that she was able to tell her mum anything.

It comes after Helen, who is currently on our screens on I'm a Celebrity... South Africa, opened up about her struggles with her two youngest children over the weekend as she said on social media: "Having a thing with Delilah at the moment where she just screamed and cries when I leave a room." And she explained: "She follows me everywhere in the house and I know it's cute but it's not as well. I wanted to go for a bath last night and she screamed the whole time. I still co-sleep with Delilah do any other mums feel me?"

Helen, who left Corrie as Rosie Webster in 2018 to go on maternity leave, shares three children with footballer Scott Sinclair - Matilda, seven, Delilah, four and two-year-old Charlie. She also told her followers: "Also got a thing with Charlie when he keeps head butting me. Also at the end of the day I feel touched out and feel for for when I'm a snappy witch anyone else?"
