Helen Flanagan on why she's having a diet overhaul in the new year as she heads off on Christmas break with her children

Soap beauty Helen Flanagan has revealed her goal for the new year as she opened up to fans on her social media. Coronation Street favourite Helen, 32, who played Rosie Webster, took to Instagram to say she doesn't want to lose weight but wants to eat better after 'grabbing' what she can while on the move as a busy mum.

"I want to have a lot better nutrition in the new year," the star, from Bury, said into the camera on her Instagram Stories, telling fans that she would be following a plan from health and wellness service Food4Thoughts.

"Everybody's goals are different," the mother-of-three continued. "For me I don't want to lose weight. I'm naturally very slim but I want to eat well because it makes me feel good.

"For example this morning, I think it's because I'm a busy mum and I just kind of grab whatever because I just run around after them. I had Pringles for breakfast, which isn't ideal."

Helen also shared joyous video and photos of herself on a festive break at a hotel in Glasgow with her daughters Matilda, seven, and Delilah, four, and son Charlie, who she welcomed last March with footballer Scott Sinclair.

.On Christmas Eve she shared a video montage of her children receiving guinea pigs for Christmas. "Happy Christmas Eve sending love. Matilda has asked me for a pet since forever and really wanted a Guinea pig Delilah wasn’t too sure but I think she’s warming to it," she wrote.

Helen recently discussed suffering 'mum guilt' while at an event away from home in London. She told OK! on the blue carpet at the 2022 ITV Palooza: "Yeah, [they are] really good, really good. I came up today but as soon as I was on the train, I got mum guilt I was even away and I was thinking: 'Oh Helen!'"

Coronation Street fans were delighted to get an update on one of the street's most famous characters earlier this month as Sally Metcalfe shared a gossip with neighbour Mary Taylor about her eldest daughter Rosie. "Rosie's doing really well with modelling," Sally shared. And viewers were in stitches as she continued about the bubbly model: "People think Rosie is ditzy but beneath that giddy exterior there's a fearful intellect."

The mention of Rosie had fans fondly calling for the character to make a comeback to Weatherfield. Helen played Rosie in Corrie from 2000 before going on maternity leave in 2018 to have her second child Delilah.

She recently told fans in an Instagram chat: "I would love love to go back to acting and I am working on something at the moment." She then added: "I have three young children and they come first in anything I do."

Scotland holds a special place in Helen's heart because she lived in Glasgow for four years with Scott when he played for Celtic and it's where Delilah was born. Matilda was one when they moved to Glasgow and four when they left.
