Traffic queuing back to the M1 following a serious crash near Clifton on Wednesday, May 4. Drivers are being turned around at Mill Hill and sent back into Clifton following the incident on the A453.
The A453 outbound towards the M1 is completely closed from Mill Hill Roundabout. Traffic outbound is being turned around at Mill Hill and sent back into Clifton. Traffic on the A453 is at a standstill all the way back to the M1.
There's also huge queues of traffic on Clifton lane in Clifton and Green Street towards Barton in Fabis also remains closed to all traffic
Police are at the scene and sirens are blaring in the distance.
Officers say A453 is between the park and ride roundabout at Clifton and they expect it to be closed for "some time". The incident was reported at around 5.40am.
Emergency service and Highways officials are at the scene. A spokesperson for Highways England said: "The A453 in Nottinghamshire is closed southbound between the A52 and M1/A50 (near Wilford) due to a serious collision. Emergency services including Nottinghamshire Police are currently on scene.
Road users are advised to follow the solid diamond diversion symbol on road signs
- From the A453 Mill Hill roundabout turn around and travel back North East to A453 Clifton Interchange.
- Follow free flow lane onto the A52.
- Continue along the A52 until you reach the Queens Medical Centre Island
- Exit the A52 onto the slip road for the roundabout and take the first exit on to the A52
- Continue on the A52, travelling over Priory, Bramcote, and Bardmills roundabouts, until you reach the exit to the M1 junction 25.
- Exit the A52 and join the M1 southbound until junction 24.
