Parts of Australia are set for a drenching and others for a scorching as millions brace for some tumultuous weather across the country for much of this week.
The heavy rains will mostly occur in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland’s North Tropical Coast, according to Weatherzone.
“A broad area of low pressure over Australia, featuring numerous low pressure troughs and low pressure systems, will interact with moisture-laden air to fuel the week-long soaking in the tropics,” the numerological service reported on Sunday.
That’s weather-speak for a bucketload of rain, with as much as 200 millimetres expected to fall in each of those states across this week and 100 millimetres in the areas between them. Basically, it’s time to move the clothes horse inside.

The drenching makes flooding, road closures and cut-offs probable in the most-effected regions, with residents being urged to watch for alerts and warnings over the next few days.
Elsewhere across the country, southern states are set for hot temperatures despite the possibility of rains. Sydney is poised for a scorcher on Wednesday, when the mercury is expected to hit 35 degrees before again cracking the 30 mark on the weekend.
Melbourne, meanwhile, will hit 34 degrees today and 36 (!) on Tuesday, dipping slightly in the middle of the before heating back up again towards the end of the week.

Adelaide is also set to swelter, with each day except Wednesday forecast to reach above 30 degrees, including a scorching 37 degrees today.
People in hot areas are advised to stay cool, stay hydrated, and minimise time spent in the sun. In other words, the perfect excuse to draw your blinds and whack on the air conditioning. Your housemates will understand!
