A yellow rain warning has been issued by the Met Office following a bout of stormy weather and thunder across Scotland.
Heavy rain will bring a chance of some flooding and disruption according to the warning set from 4am to 10am on Thursday, September 8. Several areas will be battered as the warning zone covers Edinburgh and South Lanarkshire through to Perth, Fife and Dundee.
The new alert comes after a recent deluge of rain and lightning. A rare waterspout-style cyclone borne out of the inclement weather was pictured above the coast of Edinburgh on Tuesday afternoon.
The Met Office warns flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely, while spray and flooding on roads may make journey times longer.
Bus and train services could be affected and interruption to power supplies and other services is also likely.
The Met Office states: "Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, are possible early on Thursday morning. Accumulations of 20-30 mm are likely in a few hours with a chance of up to 40 mm in one or two places.
"Following recent wet weather, this brings a risk of flooding and possible disruption to transport. The rain is expected to turn more showery later in the morning."
