Doctors Without Borders, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), has reported heavy fighting around Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza. The organization's staff recounted hearing drones, tanks, and shelling near the hospital in the early hours of Monday. A fire was witnessed rising from the main building of Al-Shifa.
Clashes were also reported around MSF's clinic and office in Gaza City, where some staff and their families are seeking shelter. According to MSF staff, Israeli forces conducted mass arrests in the area surrounding Al-Shifa Hospital. One staff member of the organization is currently unreachable.
Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari stated that Israel had been waiting for the right time to act at Al-Shifa Hospital. Hagari mentioned that over 200 terror suspects were arrested by the IDF in the operation and are now under investigation.
