Music lovers are invited to party like it's 1983 as Heaven 17 announce a special UK tour - with a Newcastle date - which will see them perform a hit album from their heyday.
The synth-pop favourites, who formed in Sheffield in 1980, became a big name with the launch of their second album The Luxury Gap in 1983. And now, 40 years on, they will be back playing that album - which has been described as a pop masterpiece - in full during throughout a 13-date tour.
The tour will include a date at The Boiler Shop in Newcastle on November 3, the second stop on a tour which will wrap up in their home city on November 18. In the company of original bandmates Martyn Ware and Glenn Gregory - with the third, Ian Craig Marsh, having left in the band's later years - it promises a nostalgic blast for fans who will revisit the likes of Temptation, the duet which saw Gregory joined by singer Carol Kenyon and became a classic.

The album itself, hailed as a 'sly, post-modern critique of modern society', helped seal the band's reputation as one of the most important British post-punk bands around. Gregory recalls: "When we were writing and recording the tracks for our second album The Luxury Gap, we energised by the critical success of our first album Penthouse And Pavement.
"We wanted to make the new songs stand up and stand out we wanted to write songs that people would take to their hearts - 40 years later our audience are still loving those songs and we are very excited to be touring our most successful album." In a message to fans he added: "Come on and jump aboard the Heaven 17 time machine - let’s party like it's 1983!”
Their shows will include other classic tracks alongside the album. Tickets for the tour will go on sale on Friday, April 28 at 10am from Ticketmaster here and Gigs and Tours here.
